You do the exponent first (order of operations), so 9*9*9=729, then divide by 3. The answer is 243.

9³/3 = 243.

9³/3 is the same as (1/3)(9)³ since you do exponents first then multiply.

Since you already know the answer, I'll give you something else that should help you forever. Remember this order of operations acronym:

P.E.M.D.A.S

or as some people say, please excuse my dear Aunt Sally

it stands for Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction.

You should start with anything in parenthesis first and work your way through all the operations until you get to subtraction.

Note** you can actually swap the addition and subtraction, and you can swap the order of multiplication and division.
