are u close w/ her? she needs a lot of support from family right now. i had a similar situation.. when i was up to 3rd grade, i was very outgoing and well-liked and happy. but we moved to a different city and school, and i had to start 4th grade somewhere new. (my family was also going thru a divorce). i think i started just eating a lot, and getting comfort at home, not really going out to exercise, and i gained a lot of weight. so i started 4th grade out REALLY shy about myself...about my looks and about being new. i was lucky because there were some nice girls that i became friends with, and i'm a fairly positive person, so even tho i was shy w/ a big crowd, i was very comfortable w/ my own friends.

anyways, i would suggest really trying to emphasize your daughter's good traits, make her feel comfortable and happy about herself. that will help her adapt to any situation... be close w/ her, tell her to talk to u about any problems at school w/ other kids. tell her to concentrate on doing well in class, and encourage her to bring friends over once in awhile, get to know them. i remember they had slumber parties, and it was really fun way to get to know the other girls. encourage her to join some activities too.. :) good luck, i'm sure it's tough.....

As a teenager making friends can be easy if you be natural. If it seems like your daughter is changing the way she dresses or acts then she is making friends the WRONG way. If she is her self someone will notice her as a friend.
