i'm hoping to buy a new car soon, i can't decide between an accord or a jetta. i know the accord is a bit more expensive (depending on the trim), but i don't know how reliable the jetta is compared to the accord. i'm afraid if the jettas have lots of problems, it will be more expensive to get fixed because it's a german car. on the other hand, my family has always had big clunky SUVs and now that i'm getting my own car i want something that's fun to drive as well as reliable and safe. i've heard the jetta with a manual transmission is a great car to drive, not so sure about the accord though. anyone have any thoughts?

i say go with the accord if your going for dependability and price. it is much cheaper to maintain a accord than a jetta. imo the jetta is real nice looking and comfortable inside, but if you're money conscious go for the accord. ive already heard of problems with the new gen passats, so i dont think the jetta will be any different. and whoever answered that the maintenance is the same price on japanese and german cars is WRONG, especially if you plan to do your maintenance through the dealership. an oil change runs you $100 on a new jetta, as the accord oil change is well under $60. shop rates are much cheaper in japanese dealerships than german. compare $90/hour to $150 an hour my friend.

You can't go wrong with an Accord. They are some of the most dependable cars and besides a Jetta is going to be hard to have maintain due to not many people are familiar with the car itself.

To fix Japanese or German it is the same difference. One won't be cheaper to repair that the other. In my opinion, the Jetta is twice the car. Look into the diesel option too if you want the best gas mileage.

Honda will be maximum reliable and a lot less intense priced to maintain, fix, & own. Plus so a lot more effective room than the different 2. also the V6 is sweet, yet nonetheless receives particularly reliable mpg's. 2d selection could be Jetta... speedy vehicle as well, yet high quality no longer as intense as Honda. reliable success.

well, they are both really nice cars, my mother just got an 06 accord and it is really nice, however, the jetta is german engineered to perfection, so this is tough.

The best thing for you to do is go on line and look at consumer reports or edmonds... they usually give a rundown, or pros and cons... from what i understand the vw is not the best deal...
