You can keep the same pad on. You can change one or both anytime you feel necessary. Just make sure you change your tampons at least every 8 hours.

Ok so your saying if you put a pad and a tampon at 5:30 am is it ok to keep the pad on when you change ur tampon again at noon. If that's the question then heres an answer. Its a good idea to put a pad and tampon on. So you wont get an embarrasing moment at school. It's not a very good idea to leave a tampon in for a long time. If the pad is not bloody than i say go ahead and use it again with a fresh tampon. But if the pad is all crumpled and used by you moving around so much i would change it just in case you leak. Good Luck.

First off I would NEVER leave my tampon in for that long esp. on a heavy day. Also, I don't understand why you're wearing both a tampon & a pad. But if you are going to do that you should change the tampon every two-three hours on a heavy day & your pad about the same. Pads are worn on the outside of the body so after a few hours that start to smell. UGH.

If I were you, I'd switch to a Diva Cup or Keeper cup. They always let you know when you need to change them so that you don't have to worry about when or not to change it. It's a much more natural way to take care of your "moon cycle"
Also, it will drastically reduce the impact of disposable tampons on the environment. Each women in her lifetime will contibute approximately 10,000 tampons to the landfill. "In 1998, 7 billion tampons and 13 billion sanitary pads and their packaging made their way into landfills and sewage systems in the USA alone!"
(However, you may disregard the information those other girls are giving you about the pad "smelling". A woman's blood-time doesn't stink.) You can wear a pad all day if you want to, but I find that they may cause irritation. Try switching to cloth pads. They're very easy to take care of, and don't worry! You don't have to touch the blood... lol You just put them in the washing machine. Much better for your skin down there, hun.

I think you're supposed to change your tampons a little more frequently than that. Probably a good rule is to change them every 4 hours except at night. The pad only needs to be changed when it is bloody or smelly. I wouldn't use a pad over 8 hours. Hope this info helps. Oh yes, the reason to change the tampon often is to prevent a serious type Staph infection.

you won't need to wear both a tampon and a pad at the same time - at most only a pantie-liner thing, and never keep a tampon in that long! you have to change them every 4 to 6 hours or so...never any longer than that...and since there are different sizes you'll need to choose the one that best for you that day.
good luck in high school....if it's anything like mine it'll be a living hell!

ok. first of all you only leave a tampon in for (at the most) 4 hours. even if the box says that you can leave it in for upto 7 hours THATS WRONG because then you will have a higher chance on getting a disease.
second of all...there are different sizes of tampons: lights, regular, and super. lights is for when you have a super light flow. you can either wear this or pantyliners. regular is for when your period is not heavy or light. and super is for when your period is super heavy.
third... you dont wear pads if you wear tampons, that is the goodness of tampons. what i do is that i just wear panty liners with tampons in case i leak by accident. you can do that too or you dont have to

i would say change you tampon every 4 hours for a heavy period and every 6 hours for moderate period. the only reason being is that you can get tss toxic shock syndrome which you can become very ill if it stays to long inside. be very careful
