Get a basket and fill it with all kinds of Pamper yourself" goodies. Lotions, bath salts, an easy listening CD, anything that will make her feel special because there is so much attention on the baby.

Buy her a book for her to write in throughout her child's life. She then will give it to her child when the child either gets married or moves out. I have one for each of my children. I received them as gifts from my friend. I must say it was the best gift ever because it has become a gift that will continue to give for years. Here are the names of some of these books.
1.) To My Daughter/Son With Love, A Mother's Memory Book
2.) My Family: Collected Memories
3.) Mom Remembers: A Treasury of Memories for My Child
4.) The Baby Chronicles
You can find them at Barnes & Noble, and perhaps most major book stores.

You could make her a gift basket of a whole bunch of different things that she could use while she's pregnant and beyond. Some suggestions might be gift certificates to various things, comfy slippers, scented bath oils/washes, candles, or anything else that you can think of to pamper herself that she wouldn't normally buy. You could pick up a stethoscope for about $15 at just about any drug store. That way, as the baby grows, she can listen to him or her.
Good luck!

If she is preggo as you said, I think she would enjoy a day of pampering at a day spa or some such. If that is too much money, try and find some really cool place she always wanted to go and arrange to take her, or get her to it. New stuff like that can refresh a tired body in ways that can't be measured.
Hope this helps.

Hey , i agree with you that its one of the most hard times to get your best friend gift for a birthday ..
maybe a :
1. get a lovely colored box, and put in all of it "dry flowers" that has lovely smell, and get from the shop some make-up staff, as long as she is your best friend, you should know what kind of make-up she likes! and put it in a lovely way in over the dry flowers in the box, then get that paper tape "colored one", and rap it nicely, i think if i get once a gift like that , i would be happy.
2. or in a way .. try to know what is the thing she is trying to buy but she cant , and buy it for her! its a good idea too.. right!
Note :
you have to be "creative" to prepare a nice gift to your best friend.
thanks godness, all my friends likes my gifts .. !! becoz i simply create it , from my IMAGINATION..
good like ..
