Either. Kawasaki probably uses more advanced technology in manufacturing, but Kaw and Suzuki have actually collaborated on some models and only the name badge differs
Harley, by the way, is still trying to make a modern motorcycle with 70 year old technology. Harley, like eBay, is hardly ever the answer.

Suzuki built the Hayabusa, which is a real screamer, and Kawasaki built the ZX-9 which people rave about, they're talking about this new zx-14, I'd like to see the zx-14 motor backed off and put in a light cruiser, kind of a street bike...but that u could put some saddleboxes on or something. Not a 2-wheeled car like a Goldwing, but something still pretty motorcycle-y, but with good cruising range and good power for hills/freeway etc.

Of the 2! Kawasaki! My brother and I bought 2 new bikes for a summer vacation. His 1200 Bandit leaked gas and ruined the motor before it got 2000 miles. We asked Suzuki to replace the motor so we could go on vacation. The dealer asked for this too to no avail.
It took 2 months to get a rep out, then he said it’s to expensive and would cost $3000. After 4 months and the vacation gone they got the motor rebuilt at a their cost of $3700. The dealer wanted to replace the motor but the Suzuki Rep squashed that on the spot.
The gas stained cases and burnt exhaust pipes were not replaced, the rep wouldn‘t go for it. The bike got nicked and scratched all over from being apart for 6 months, I saw the rep do some of it. The rep rode it and looked at it after it was fixed, then said it’ good as new. It ran like crap and looked worse.
We called Japan, and even wrote the US CEO all for nothing. We spent $15,000 for the bikes to get ripped off by Suzuki. We spent our vacation hassling with Suzuki, and not one person there gave a damn!
Beware Suzuki’s warranty is not worth the paper it’s on! Buy one of their lemons, get shafted, we did!
I’m a 30 yr garage vet and I know when a rep and a manufacturer have ripped off a customer. This one stinks to high heaven! RUN from buying any Suzuki!
I like Yamaha's V Max ! I love mine!

Don't listen to the Harley guys. They're loyal to their brand, but they don't know why. A BMW gets 400K on the clock and they yawn, a harley gets 70K and they brag about how long they went without replacing the lower end.
Kawasaki and Suzuki are both "throw-away" bikes. There's nothing older than a one-year old Japanese bike.
So, since you're going to throw it away anyway, get the one that you like better. Which one looks better, is more comfortable, has more ergonomic controls, better view through the mirrors, has a better fairing, etc.
Both of these brands have bullet-proof mechanicals, the engine and tranny won't even be half-worn out when the thing is sitting in a junkyard, so base your decision on aesthetics and don't pay too much.

Suzuki is by far better to own. They are reliable and predictable. Kawasaki is a nice bike, don't get me wron. The biggest issue I have about them is that most of thier street bike engines have shim over bucket valves and its a pain in the a$$ to adjust the valves. In my opinion Kawis are less reliable.
As far as Harleys are concerned.... They are overrated gift wrapped turds.

Whatever one you can afford and are comfortable riding. Brand name doesn't mean squat. HD, BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Triumph, Moto Guzzi and Ducati all make good bikes. And everyone of them will go down the road, make memories, break down, lose parts and even kill you if you're not careful. For me, the best bike is my bike, whichever one of the 5 I happen to be riding. And those who think they are better than someone because of the brand of bike they ride are fools. A bike is a bike. If a certain one trips your trigger than more power to you, but don't expect me to buy a certain brand because you think I should, because it aint happening.

Kawasaki. Hands down.
Now for the Harley touters, Harley was not a choice to her question.
Generally the responders that proclaim "Harleys" never owned one and think they are cool saying "Harley, yeah!!"
Harleys are great bikes, but their owners generally don't need to advertise to yahoo blokes.
Oh No!! Stuperman (below) is back with his same story again. What do you have that as a signature to every one of your posts?

I prefer Kawasaki over Suzuki.
Your question is overall too general. Are you looking for a beginner bike? Fast bike? Sport Bike? Cruiser? Race?
