I don't know. I do know that racism is passed on from generation to generation. Parents teach it to their children through the observational learning process. Racist people are not exclusively poor whites. I've encountered many highly racist African-Americans that despise Whites or Hispanics or anything that is not 100% Black. I've also encountered many Hispanics that will cross the street just to avoid sharing their side of the sidewalk with an Anglo or African-American. Racism is everywhere. Unfortunately, in The United States of America, the people in power are the Anglos. Therefore, it is easy to point the finger at the people in power.

In a word ignorance.

For the most part racist people are taught to be racist, either directly by family and friends or indirectly by observing others.

This is a very hard cycle to break because children (mostly) grow up to be like their parents and friends that have formed their life.

The ones that have to change are the parents, and they have to teach the kids the right way to respect others...

Racism is just a false pride, like sexism, nationalism, and
religious intolerance. People trying to make themselves big,
because inside they really don't think much of themselves.
People talk out thier necks when they call people rednecks. The term comes from a man's neck turning red when he fights,
(arm locks around his neck, getting hit). Not every blow hard is
redneck. A redneck is someone who enjoys fighting.

Racism is generally associated with the lack of education... rednecks and blue-collars generally do not have higher education degrees.

What do you consider racist? I would think that an ethnic group that thinks it is “God’s Chosen People” has to be at least a little racist.
