You need to get on a good skin tone regimen that keeps your face clean, balanced and moisturized. Try Philosophy (www.philosphy.com or www.sephora.com). They have a great line of products for aging (sorry) skin. They also have great facial peels and a line called Make-up Optional for those who want healthy skin and also don't want to "have" to wear make-up to look good.
Also, try Mary Kay's line of products. It's been revamped and they also have great peels and a simplified skin routine that you can do daily.
Using either will help even your skin tone. Then you can use a light foundation to help balance whatever is left. What's most important is that you get your skin healthy and keep it that way.
Oh, one more thing...stay out of the sun. I don't mean that you shouldn't go outside, but avoid sun bathing and tanning. That only creates more problems AND ages your skin.

Use a scar diminishing cream such as Maderma - I'm not sure if this product has skin bleaching qualities, if not, use a skin bleaching cream as well.
Also try Neutrogena's Visibly Even Products, for the exfoliante and mask, try Neutrogena's Deep Clean Gentle Scrub and Hydrating Facial Cloth Mask (these are found at most supermarkets and drug stores) and take care of your skin on a daily/weekly basis as follows:
-You will need: Cleanser, Toner (or Astringent), Cotton Balls, Moisturizer, Mask (or Masque), Extractor (found at most beauty supply stores), and either a facial steamer or hand towel for steaming.
-Morning and night (before going to bed): cleanse, tone, and moisturize. For blackheads, clogged pores, etc. 2-3 times a week include steaming in these steps (in this order: cleanse, tone, steam, tone, moisturize).
-Once a week: cleanse, tone, steam, exfoliate, tone, *extractions, tone, mask, tone, moisturize.
*IF NEEDED, for clogged pores, pimples, etc. Don't begin doing extractions until you have been following all of the other steps for at least 2 weeks, so that the steaming will have caused the blackheads to begin to soften.
-How to: *
Cleanse -use a small amount and lather with water, apply using circular motions all over face and neck, repeat if you have makeup on
Tone - Squeeze a small amount onto the cottonball and wipe all over face and neck
Steam - for 10-15 minutes, use one of these methods - facial steamer, hold your face 3-5 inches above steaming water, or drape a hot towel over your face (leaving your nostrils and/or mouth exposed)
Exfoliate - follow the same steps as in cleansing, but don't repeat
Extractions - IF NEEDED, place the hoop (or eye) over the blemish (or blackhead) so that the blemish is in the center of the hoop, apply slight pressure and use rocking and rolling movements all around the blemish (don't use so much pressure that you create indentions or bruises on your skin), if and when the blockage comes out of the pore, wipe away with a cottonball that has been dampened with toner
Mask - apply mask evenly on face and neck, leave for 10-15 minutes, remove by draping a hot towel over your face, then wiping away
Moisturize - apply a small amount on face an neck and massage until it's absorbed
*In all of these steps, always avoid the eye area.
~VITAMINS/MINERALS, DIET, & EXCERCISE~
Each day, include a multivitamin for women and try to maintain a fairly healthy diet and exercise routine. Also see this site about vitamins and the skin: http://www.prevention.com/article/0,5778,s1-5-53-156-3879-1,00.html. If you take any of these vitamins in addition to your multivitamin, be sure you aren’t going over the recommended dosages.

Go to a dermatologist to get a detailed regimen to follow.
In the meantime, I suggest that you use a moisturizer with an SPF during the day. I use Neutrogena Visibly Even Daily SPF 15 Moisturizer. I like it because it contains Soy which helps to protect my skin and minimizes the appearance of dark spots.
