I mean why is it that the word 'smoker' is such a slander? People seem to really judge people pretty harshly when they smoke. Whats the reasoning behind it?

I think for some its has been they have encounter too many that do smoke that have no respect to the fact that others around him/her may not smoke. Maybe start smoking ettiquette guidelines and the negative image may fall off.

It's just a nasty habit and shows that the smoker is inconsiderate to others. I put it in the same category as spitting in public. It's just nasty to observe. Smoking is even worse because of the smell permeates everything.

The worst thing for me is having to sit next to a smoker for hours during a business meeting. He may not be smoking during the meeting, but the smell is still just as terrible and by the end of the meeting, I have a headache.

Because, it's a flithy, dirty, digusting habit that causes a host of health problems for the smoker, for others around the smoker and drives up the cost of health care for everyone, because smokers place such a burden on the system. It sticks to clothes, the walls, your breath, pollutes the air, etc., etc. How many reasons do you need?

I think it has to do with the fact that the fall is imprinted so strongly into human mentality. Giving in to temptation eventually leads to a descent, which is obviously apparent with smokers (lung cancer, anyone?) Just my opinion, smokers are discriminated against for a few reasons. One, they're showing utter weakness in giving in to temptation, even knowing what it's doing to their bodies. Two, it's completely inconsiderate. The people around them have chosen not to smoke and die a painful, hacking, wheezing, cancerous death, and smokers are infringing on that right by polluting the air with things that kill people.

People love feeling superoir to others unfortunatly. Smokers are fashionable to slanderize (if there is such a word).

That is because second hand smoke causes cancer in people that don't smoke. We choose not to smoke, the smell is VERY offensive, and we don't appreciate being subjected to carcinogens. If smokers want to smoke that's their choice - but the rest of us don't want to be around it.

For 2 reasons:

-They smell bad and throw their unhealthy smoke to other people when they are around.

-They lose a lot of time at work with the excuse they have to go to smoke a cigarette.

Because the Government has covered up the REAL reasons of the diseases through cigarettes. And idiots believe them. Talk about Brainwashing.

it's bad mmkay? and that smoke does harm others as well. you can eat 12 hamburgers for lunch but all you're doing is hurting yourself, but with smokers, the noxious sweet smelling smoke can cause harm to others who don't smoke. granted it would have to be decades of second hand smoke in order to cause harm but you know, people like to bit*ch about everything.

Because it is nasty, smokers stink, they usually litter as well throwing butts on the sidewalks and out the window. Also, usually they don't care if they blow smoke in your face.
