Ectopic means "out of place." In an ectopic pregnancy, a fertilized egg has implanted outside the uterus. The egg settles in the fallopian tubes more than 95% of the time. This is why ectopic pregnancies are commonly called "tubal pregnancies." The egg can also implant in the ovary, abdomen, or the cervix, so you may see these referred to as cervical or abdominal pregnancies.

None of these areas has as much space or nurturing tissue as a uterus for a pregnancy to develop. As the fetus grows, it will eventually burst the organ that contains it. This can cause severe bleeding and endanger the mother's life. A classical ectopic pregnancy never develops into a live birth.

Is one in which the fetus implants itself outside the uterus often i n a fallopian tube.
Because the fetus cannot receive nourishment nor expand too much outside the uterus,an ectopic pregnancy usually aborts or ruptures within three months. An ectopic pregnancy is potentially life-threatening. Therefore,it is important that every woman be on the alert for any signs of such a pregnancy. These symptoms include low abdominal pains, vaginal bleeding(usually light), and possible pain in the shoulders( if there is blood escaping from the rupture into the diaphragm, the partition between the abdominal and chest cavities, can cause referred pain in the shoulders). If there is internal bleeding leading to shock, the woman may experience dizziness, paleness, lightheadedness, sweating, and rapid pulse. These sings indicate that immediate emergency medical help is essential.
An ectopic pregnancy is removed surgically as early in the pregnancy as possible.

When the embryo implants somewhere other than the uterine wall, often in the fallopian tubes. Ectopic pregnancies are not viable and could lead to serious problems if not terminated (rupture of fallopian tubes, serious abdominal infections)

Ectopic pregnancy is when the baby attaches in the Fallopian tubes instead of the uterus. It's really dangerous. If the falopian tube ruptures it can kill the mother.

Hi there...one of the symptoms of eptopic pregnancy is shoulder pain/ache....apart from a combination of some of the previous answers about the baby developing outside the womb in the fallopian tube that's all I can add for you. If you are concerned about any pregnancy issues you must take advice from the DOC.
