Aside from the support staff, the UN is nothing more or less than a framework upon which the nations of the world can work together on "projects". If the nations do nothing, or dont follow through with the projects they bring forth then, no, nothing happens. But blaming that on the UN support staff is a handy, but eronious copout.
For instance, France and United States (under Clinton) sponsored the resolution in 2000 that prompted Israel to withdraw from Lebanon. As part of that resolution, Lebanon agreed, with the help of the sponsor nations, to disarm Hezbollah.
The Bush administration, however, didnt like A: the UN, and B: any agreements Clinton started. So the United States didn't push Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah. Neither did France, but who expected them to do anything, right?
Eventually, it was time for elections in Lebanon. Bush said, go ahead and let Hezbollah get involved (even though they were still mainly a terrorist organization). So, now, Hezbollah has entrenched political power in Lebanon goverment, and even more credibility with the Lebanese people than they had before.
Since Syria trades openly with Lebanon, and Iran (the supplier of Hezbollah weaponry) trades openly with Syria, there was little the UN support staff could do to stop the transfer of weapons. Maybe if the US had had any diplomatic ties with Syria or Iran, they could have worked on something. But, of course, Bush isnt big on diplomacy...until now, when it's too late.

UN implies all the laws and regulations on poor developing countries but never even try to advice powerful countries like USA, Israel etc. When US invaded Iraq, UN should have pushed the US to some kind of settlement. So I think UN should be able to imply all the laws on all the countries.

I completely agree. The U.N. crap. They don't do anything and really can't because they are afraid to use force on contries because they want to be peaceful. Economic sanctions don't work against a lower level country with an unstable government. But thats just my opinon.

absolutly. The UN is a worthless organization that can do nothing but impose worthless "sanctions" on rougue countries. What does that do? I say the US should kick them out of NYC and tell them to all go to hell. And then lets see what the UN can accomplish without the help of the US.

The UN helped to come against North Korea's missile bombing last month that landed in the Sea of Japan so No, I don't think they should close but I do think that they should make reformations NOW!

I agree and if the UN won't just shut its doors the United States should withdraw from it and tell them to get the hell out of our country.

I think that the UN should become the world government, over all others, so we can start working on fixing our broken species.

This "institution" is a relic. It was "doomed" since its inception.
Because it has not a valid foundation.
"United" Nations?! United by what? They are separated by hate; by
greed; by hypocrisy; by envy; by racism; by the desire of revenge...
In one word, they are separated by the Devil. And not united by the
same (divine) principles, as it should.
