You aint got out much have you? if you did some investigation you would find the groups you are supporting are guilty of horrendous

sexisim, homophobia, sexual repression, brainwashing, repression, clearly wrong going against all evidence, teach people to accept a very inferior position expecially women without question.

Where these relgions are incontrol that abuse stretches to murder and mutilation...

Now have a look through ALL these links (some may not work anymore or you may need to follw the menu as moved but go thoru the lot in deatil, and you may get the answer to your question.) note most of these are not one offs but due in full support of their community...

You will find relgious groups are the least tolleratant with only the exceptions of buddisim and Wiccanism (think nature loving hippie witches) and possibly the seiks. However buddisim has a flaw in their belief in karma and often disabled kids are considered preveious people now suffereing fro crimes and neglected which is very wrong.

Tehran, Iran, Jan. 06 – An Iranian court has sentenced a teenage rape victim to death by hanging after she weepingly confessed that she had unintentionally killed a man who had tried to rape both her and her niece.

The state-run daily Etemaad reported on Saturday that 18-year-old Nazanin confessed to stabbing one of three men who had attacked the pair along with their boyfriends while they were spending some time in a park west of the Iranian capital in March 2005.

Nazanin, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident, said that after the three men started to throw stones at them, the two girls’ boyfriends quickly escaped on their motorbikes leaving the pair helpless.

She described how the three men pushed her and her 16-year-old niece Somayeh onto the ground and tried to rape them, and said that she took out a knife from her pocket and stabbed one of the men in the hand.

As the girls tried to escape, the men once again attacked them, and at this point, Nazanin said, she stabbed one of the men in the chest. The teenage girl, however, broke down in tears in court as she explained that she had no intention of killing the man but was merely defending herself and her younger niece from rape, the report said.

The court, however, issued on Tuesday a sentence for Nazanin to be hanged to death.

This was the same judge who sentenced Nazanin to death. He personally volunteered to hang the girl himself as so outraged she took off her hajib which he considered undressing.

The teenage victim had no access to a lawyer at any stage and efforts by her family to retain one were to no avail. Atefeh personally defended herself and told the religious judge that he should punish those who force women into adultery, not the victims. She was eventually hanged in public in the northern town of Neka.

So what was the judge (one Haji Rezaie) doing sentencing an "unchaste" 16-year-old to hang? He said that she had a "sharp tongue" and had "undressed in court".
It seems that all she did was to take off her headscarf and insist that she was the victim of an older man's advances: …Nevertheless, the judge was so outraged that he decided he would personally put the noose round the child's neck.

tollerant society, is that a good thing?....
to tollerate something , doesnt mean you approve or agree.

I think that this yahoo answers really brings out the best and worst in everyone. That isnt the fault of Yahoo, but if you give people a big enough open stage, they are bound to say something!....
I would take it as a global hatred and lack of understanding etc to everyone by everyone.....

I would like that everyone believed what they like without feeling they need to inflict thier views . That other people would leave them to it, as llong as they dont endanger themselves or other etc....
I would like to live in an open world where no matter what your gender, sexuality, race, colour , etc etc etc.. we all accept and embrace each other....

But that will never happen.

1.)How do you deal with people who have such a cruel outlook on your lifestyle? Never had to (aside from on the internet) fortunately. 2.)Is it common to see the double standard of the acceptance of lesbians and not gay men? I don't know but I think I might know their "reasoning"; when people make reference to the Bible about Homosexuality, since there is not mention of Lesbianism being wrong, they would focus on male homosexuality since there is. Though those people don't realize that since the Bible was physically written by man much of the Bible was a collection of socieltal rules of the time (and it would be easier to get people to follow your rules if they think it's the word of God); for example most of those people refer to the Levitical law against homosexual relations between men. However, there are 613 Levitical laws many of them concerning only historically applicable themes that reflect more the cultural of the time then God's will and it is all considered one covenant, so if you mess up on one thing you've broke all of the laws. The other is Romans 1:26-to 1:32 written by the Apostle Paul; many people translate that as the opposition to Pederasty - a common practice of the Romans at the time rather then Homosexuality between concenting adults or condeming Heterosexuals who commint Homosexual acts. Plus the Bible has been translated numerous amounts of times and things are bound to get lost in translaition. As far as Lesbianism not being mentioned I'd assume it was because of the misogynistic culture during the time the bible was written. And then the New Testament teaches forgiveness and mercy: Christ is the embodiment of the Law, the word of God made flesh. That law is put to the death on the cross so that we may live in grace the grace of God, and not in the condemnation of the law. Meaning, all of the laws made by man in the Old Testement (including the one condeming Homosexuality) were abolished when Jesus died on the cross.

Because there are an awful lot of morons out there.

As to tolerant society, there are people here from all over the world. Many societies. But it seems to be Americans who are the most bigoted. I am American. I intentionally avoid the "American" Y!Answers, and choose instead "English language."

I agree, girl. People are just hurting and mean inside I guess. Anonymity makes them act rude and ignorant. It is worrisome. Cold hearted people never cease, do they. Sad. But you and me and a whole lotta people can keep bringing the sunshine, K?! K!

Probably some genuine views that are exaggerated slightly to wind people up.

Surely no tolerant person would pretend to be racist/sexist/homophobic if they weren't really.

Our society has the appearance of tolerance but truly people are hateful. If we were really tolerant we wouldn't need the laws we have.
