Will they finally legalize gay marriage? Yes

Will gay couples not be discriminated against in the future? Homosexual couples will ALWAYS be discriminated by SOMEONE.

Will we finally be treated as first class citizens? Well, this is how I see it.

Lets take the African-American population. Yes, we're legally allowed to vote now, no more slavery, etc etc.

But, even tho society as a whole accepts us and treats us as lawful citizens with respect you still have those select few groups that continue to discriminated against us no matter what.

It's the same way concerning women.

Sadly, it will be the same with homosexuals I believe.

First Class Citizens? I had to laugh, in that in my mind "First Class" conotates "above others".

What are the benefits of marriage that are denied homosexuals? I've never quite understood this.

The tax benefits amount to at most a couple thousand dollars a year (and probably a lot less). Many employers offer benefits to domestic partners (and if your employer doesn't then perhaps you should consider if you're working for the right company).

If this is an emotional thing, why not conduct a ceremony (sacred or civil, as is you're preference) and establish your identity as you wish.

I may not agree with homosexuality as a lifestyle, but how can I reasonably prohibit the reasonable choices of adults that does not impact me, or impinge on my rights?

I can not formulate a logical arguement to prohibit gay marriage, or for that matter polygamous marriage. We sanction serial marriage, and the disolution of marriage for "No particular reason".

Personally I think the state should get out of the marriage business.

I don't think it's going to be the near future. The fanatical conservatives will fight to the bitter end, but I think that eventually gays will have the rights they deserve. I have never understood why the conservatives make such a noise about gays. They are just normal people who are attracted to the same sex. The way they are being treated now is deplorable and I do hope that the discrimination ends soon.

In the near future? Sadly no.

Look at the history of African American Rights. Lincoln freed the slaves in the South with the Emancipation Proclamation, and when the war was over the US amended the constitution to free the rest of them and assure them the rights of all Americans. 100 years later, Lyndon Johnson signed extensive civil rights legislation to assure them equal treatment. And yet today, in many places and in many ways in most places, African Americans are not treated as first class citizens. It has improved a WHOLE LOT, but still there are major issues.

So for us? It will be the same. Once the law comes around, it will still take many, many years for us to receive our due universally.

Every "minority" has had to deal with some heavy sh*t. Right now it's Gay's. It's a slick political tool that the current GOP administration is using - kind of like the flavor of the month. Things always change - thank GOD for that. So I say yes, in the future, gays will be ok. And those that don't like it will have to deal with it. It's first class all the way for me...I will accept nothing less in life.

Look, as long as there are Christians that believe in the word of God, and as long as people don't like to look at men kissing men, or women kissing women, and as long as humans keep pushing the envelope, there will be discrimination against everyone here at least once in their life times.

Blacks have been Discriminated against for hundreds of years,
Women are oppressed around the world,
theses are things we cannot change, and u wanna be treated "Better" cause u wanna hug up with another man, which is a state of mind, and can change???

Give it a rest...
