What's the main reason behind, fighting between Hezbollah and Israel?

What most people do not realize is that the conflict was not born during the last 4 weeks, but goes back to many years before.

Israel still occupies parts of Lebanon, the Shaba' farms(The UN says it is Syrians, but both the Syrians and Lebanese say it is Lebanese)

Also During the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon, it kidnapped civilians and put them in Israeli prisons(they are still there now). Hezbollah kidnapped two soldiers to use them for a prisoner exchange. Israel did not like this and loosed it's military on Lebanon, not only the areas where Hezbollah is.

Of course, if you look at things the way they are depicted in the US media, the story goes like this. Israel was minding it's own business and never harmed any one when Hezbollah crossed the border killed some soldiers and kidnapped others.

This of course would be stripping things out of their context.

FYI, Hezbollah did something very similar a few years ago and was able to secure of it's prisoners in Israeli prisons.

Its a power struggle. It was not in Israels interest to put off this fight any longer. Can either one "win, in this case eliminate the other", it does not seem likely. It's too late for Israel to win, too early for Hezbollah.

Hezbollah has vowed to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Israel, as you might expect, isnt into that.

Well you already know that one or two Israeli soldier's had got captured and that Hezbollah would not return them safely until Israel returns some of their P.O.W.'s back
