One, two and five dollar coins that are not politically correct (keep George, Tom, and Abe on them) and easily usable. A dollar bill lasts about 18 months while a coin's average lifespan is 30 years. It would be much cheaper. On larger bills, I'd add some color like they are beginning to do. I'd also probably make the sizes larger with larger denominations much like in Europe. It really is easier to sort the money and more difficult to counterfeit.

I'd eliminate the penny. What can you buy with a penny?
I'd eliminate the one dollar bill and replace it with a coin that's the same diameter as a quarter but twice as thick so that it's not mistaken for a quarter.
I'd reintroduce larger denominations of currency.
I'd make the nickel smaller and the dime bigger.
I'd introduce glow in the dark paper money just to be funny.

(1) I'd make all of the dollars sticky so they wouldn't fly out of my pocket.

(2) I'd dump the "in God we trust" I don't think that one makes god happy

(3) Smallest to biggest from nickles up.

Get rid of the term "In God We Trust". In this day, money IS our God!

I'd make it more colorful. Our money is so drab and boring.
