Satchel Paige was a great pitcher whose primary team was the Kansas City Monarchs. Paige always wanted to play in the major leagues. When baseball was finally integrated, Paige played for the Cleveland Indians in 1948 and was named "rookie of the year".

Paige got what he always wanted, but, at the age of 42, and after pitching for over 20 years, he felt ridiculous being classified as 'rookie of the year'.

I have read where lotto winners have had their lives ruined after they had hit for millions.

Was Satchel Paige right...should we be careful what we wish for, we may get it ?

Yes,we should be careful what we wish for...Everything is not necessarily what it looks like ..Everything that glitters is not gold.Ive had that happen to me.

The most beautiful piece of fruit on the tree may not be the sweetest.Who knows if it is really fruit; it could be a man made sphere painted to look like fruit. But once, you bite into that piece of fruit you never know how it will taste.

Make your choices in life like picking fruit..Choose carefully. and weigh each option.

He never said that, though. This is what he said:

"Avoid fried meats which angry up the blood".
"If your stomach disputes you, lie down and pacify it with cool thoughts".
"Keep the juices flowing by jangling around gently as you move".
"Go very light on the vices, such as carrying on in society — the social ramble ain't restful".
"Avoid running at all times".
"And don't look back — something might be gaining on you".
