The car has gas, oil, transmission fluid, and all other fluids. But suddenly the car just wouldn't start. I'm hoping that it's not the head because of the cost. If the anti-freeze/water isn't getting to the motor could that cause it. I don't really know anything about cars, so I hope someone out there can help me.

Someone said that they thought it could be the head, but I'm not certain. I need to know some tale-tale signs so that I can figure out what it is.

Someone said that they thought it could be the head, but I'm not certain. I need to know some tale-tale signs so that I can figure out what it is. If let it sit for a day or so it'll crank so I'm thinking it's not the battery. And it has a half a tank of gas. The spark plugs and starter were replaced a little while back. So it can't be any of those that are causing it.What else could it be?

If you don't know anything about cars, why do you think it's the head? It could be lots of things.

Basically, your engine needs 3 things to start: Gas, Spark, and Compression. Have you tested any of these things yet?

Update: If you have a modern car (with fuel injection), you have an electric fuel pump in the gas tank. When you turn the ignition to run, you should hear the pump running. If you don't, you may need a new pump, but there could still be other reasons, like a blown fuse.

You probably need a qualified tech to diagnose this for you...

when you say "gone" do you mean missing, or what? if you mean missing, then it will be VERY obvious the cylinder head is a big block of iron, or aluminum or what ever your engine is made of. Just look up 'cylinder head' on wikipedia.org and you will see pictures. If you mean cracked, or something like that, than check for compression, because you will be loosing that. also check spark, and fuel, in the engine. If you dont know how pick up a repair manual at autozone, or somewhere like that. they are usualy less than $20. When you turn the key do you hear anything at all?? Check to make shure your battery isnt dead, that is one of the most common things that will prevent your car from starting.

sounds more like the power module. when its gone there is no power at all. check if the head lights come on and if they don't have someone check out the power module. if the head was gone there wouldn't be any water at all and it would have steamed, etc and the smell of coolant would have been ev erywere. hope that helps
