i had the mirena fitted last week, but i have been bleeding slightly and cramping every night, how long is this suppose to last, i didnt think of any possible side effects or pain afterwards, does anybody else have any stories good or bad to share with me about the mirena. Thank you.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and I don't like these coils they have been known to cause cervical cancer and during intercourse they have been known to get pushed further up. cramping can be eased by some paracetamol light bleeding few days .
You should be OK in few days don't know if you have had a coil before but first few times of sex you are conscious its there after few more you forget totally .I'm guessing you had heavy periods trust me this coil is brilliant and lasts 5 yrs and all you do is get a new one.

I have Mirena, too, and love it. I had some minor cramping off and on for about a week, and my period seemed to drag on forever. But after that, I was ok...

GGGAAAGGHHH! No, don't have any coil fitted, Pelvic Imflammatory Disorder PID, can cause you life-long health problems. Remove immediately!

I think up to two weeks would be normal. They don't tell you this beforehand... I have the Merina IUD and that's how long it took for me. But now I'm very happy with it, and I highly recommend it.
