I would implore you to seek some courses in animal behavioral science. This would help you to adapt your curriculum specialties to animal specific, making your plight more successful.

You can work in the research field. There is a lot of behavioral research that starts with animals (think Pavlov's dogs). There used to be a Chimp Center at Ohio State University that did some really interesting research, though it was recently closed. Something like that could be very interesting and fun, and you would have a lot of hands on experience with animals. I would recommend doing some online searches to see what is available. Your best bet might be to look for animal research centers associated with universities. Just stay away from pharmaceutical research, it's too depressing.

"I have the feeling that you are "playing" on this site. If you have a degree in psychology and/or sociology, you already have all the ideas you need to move in the direction of preferred work and your "slumming" here on yahooanswers for nothing."
Good Luck!

Be a pet therapist. People love gimmicky stuff, and pets actually
have personalities.
I had a cat once that never once used the bathroom outside of his box. But I got a girlfriend, and suddenly he was crapping
everywhere. I found out she was nagging him when she got drunk
and I was at work.

Not just in Beverly Hills, either.
I understand there's an immense homeless peacock overpopulation roaming through Palos Verdes.
