I take care of an elderly person who is legally blind. I am very afraid of snakes! I know there are snakes in the house I've heard them sliding in the ceiling, there have been skins found in the house in various places. I also have two dogs while at work. My boss thinks I'm over reacting. I'm constantly on edge and always in fear of finding one in the house, not to mention the time I spend watching for them at the doors and windows. At least one of the dogs has killed one while I was on the clock in the dog yard and managed to make another mad and I had to call animal control to seperate them. However it is time to return to work for another school season and I am sure to encounter the same. I just want answers on why they are coming into the house and what can be done. Please! I respect snakes, I just don't want them any where near me!

Where are you located? I find your situation highly unlikely in North America anyway.

I am not so sure if this will work, but it is an idea..

In order to drive out the snakes without the knowledge of the elderly man (who seems to enjoy the company..) you should try installing an ultrasonic pest controller.

This item can be found at your local home depot or lowes store. Once you have it turned on the noise it makes should drive the snakes away. Your patient will not be able to hear the racket as it will be ultrasonic of course. Your dogs will be affected though so I would not recommend letting them near the device once you have activated it.

Leave it running for however long it takes. Even if it does not directly drive out the snakes, it will do something else equally as important: it will drive out the snakes food source. Rats, mice, insects will definitely be sent running as far as they can get from this noise. Those that stay behind will find themselves deafened over time, and their mating patterns disrupted to the point that they will not be able to reproduce.

When the snakes have no food, then perhaps that will help them to leave.

One way or the other this is the cheapest and stealthiest method I can think of to take care of your problem. I would recommend 4 units, one for each corner of the house. Perhaps extra ones where you know the snakes exit at if you want, although that might just trap them.

Depending upon the part of the world you live in, there are places that you can call that will find out if there is a nest somewhere. The snakes may have found a place they like to mate or lay eggs in your place. You have to get to the root of the problem and by reading your comments, it seems that you have eliminated the food source (rats), so now you need to find out what is keeping them there. What type of snakes are they? Maybe they are eating birds??? Are there any other rodents around?

They're in the house. Oh, that's so creepy. Maybe the house has mice so the snakes come in looking for food or maybe they like the temperature in the house. I don't know what you could do about it. Get a cat maybe.

Don't know if this would help or not but. When I was asking about a bird once I was told that smaller animals have very sensitive resprotory systems. I was told that spraying Febreeze in the house would kill my bird. It was a very expensive bird too. lots of luck

The snakes aren't the problem.
There wouldn't be snakes there unless there was a large mouse population.
Get rid of the mice.

Are you serious, where is this India? Dang that is crazy. I think you need to call animal control for the patients sake. That is the craziest thing ever.

be nice to the snakes and bring doggie treats with you when you go to the house. this will help you befriend the snakes then they won't eat you.
