I am currently an officer for my high school's dance team, and as part of my duties as an officer, I need to choreograph a dance to a song of my choice. I'm looking for something fun, and with character. Something that would be considered a novelty dance. Any suggestions of some fun songs to dance to? I'm looking for maybe some oldies, broadway songs, tv shows theme songs, movie themes, etc.

I'm choreographing something for my high school classmates (though they're not really considered a "dance team") to perform for a rally. We're doing a "West Side Story" Theme where one group plays the Jets and the other plays the Sharks. I'm cutting the music to make a medly.

It might be really cheesy, but you could also to a routine to "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray where the dancers can dress up like they're from the 60s (Benji and Donyelle did this song on So You Think You Can Dance)

You could also do Thriller! Dress up like dead people.

I've done a few really fun dances with my classes...

"Soak Up The Sun" by Sheryl Crow. The girls wore swimshit looking leotards and big sun hats and glasses.

"Puttin On The Ritz" and everyone was totally blinged out with gold costumes.

"Razzle Dazzle" from Chicago. The girls all wore pink leos with the fringe skirts and lots of rhinestones and feathers.

"Diamond's Are A Girl's Best Friend" from Moulin Rouge. We replicated the costume Nicole Kidman wore in the movie.
