I read the Da Vinci Code and loved it. I know it says its fiction. But some of that stuff sounds so real. What did you think of it and what is your theory about it?

the History channel and Discovery channel have both investigated it and declared it fake along with the author.
The only thing that I would say gets on my nerves is the people that try to throw it in christians' face and say things like "I knew it" or make ignorant comments before educating themselves...they arm themselves with it for a fight without bothering to realize even the author says it's fiction,it's ridiculous...

It's definetely fiction. If the Da Vinci Code doesn't make sense and is unbelievable, then how can the author sell a lot of his books? Agree? If you loved the book, try watching the movie when it comes out to DVD. Even though I'm a Catholic, I still liked the movie because I know that it's fiction and not real.

No. It's all made up. Even the secret origination was fake, even though the author claimed it was true. The Priory of Sion was a hoax. Someone didn't do his research.
Leonardo did hide things in his works, but nothing like that. His was more about the importance of John the Baptist over Jesus and social and political commentary.
There has been groups around for a long time that believed Jesus was married and all that, but there is no proof on either side.

The story is fiction, and not even good fiction. Dan Brown's a hack writer. He pretty much just stole from another book called Holy Blood Holy Grail. I think that's what it's called. I can't remember who wrote it.

I think WAY too many people took this book too seriously.

It's FICTION. Sure there might be areas where fiction and historical facts are overlapped but you need to read it like you read everything else. Take it with a grain of salt. Do your own research and draw your own conclusions. Don't change your thoughts or opinions just because someone wrote a book that made you think a little. People these days are too f*ucking impressionable......jeez

Christians know how impressionable society is. They were worried this would change peoples view on religion. Which for a lot of people I know it did (because a lot of people I know are idiots). If the Christian religion has to worry about losing followers due to a simple fiction book then I think they need to step back and question what it is about their religion that causes people to lose faith so easily.

Anything is possible. Just as the bible has been written and re-written over time, the Da Vinci Code could be something passed down from generations and Dan Brown had to put it as fiction to avoid the controversy. Besides, if we can't prove his book to be true, how do we prove the Bible?

Mysteries are awesome! I believe that there is going to be another book just like The Da Vinci Code, like a sequel maybe. I'm not that sure. I'm not that smart, either. So I probably would be wrong, but how would I know.

There is a chance that Mary and Jesus were indeed married. In fact there is circumstancial evidence to support it. Before we look at it you must remember The Church supressed much info and has control over what went into Bible. Other than Book of Esther there are no woman in title of any bibical tale! Furthermore it wa s Pope sometime in 16th century (I think) that proclaimed Mary a prostitute! That was wrong. Nowhere in bible was mary said to have been anything but a sinner like most men and women. Why did Church want such a negative view of Mary? Did they know something? Ok enough lets look at this logically. 2000 years women traveled with their family or mates! To this day in Mideast women who travel without a male escort that is either their husband or family. Why would Mary be traveling with Jesus? Could she had been married to one of the group Jesus perhaps? Many of the Aposiles were jealous of Mary because Jesus favored her! Why would a woman on no importance be so important unless his wife? Now this would make sense. No woman would have been part of decsions unless a wife perhaps? There is more but let go to the biggie! During the resurection Jesus appears before who? Yep you guessed it Mary. Now again lets use logic if your going to appear after death before someone who would you choose? Most of us would be our spouse, children, family etc! Why would Jesus pick Mary unless she was his wife? The Holy Grail and a bloddline I cant say but far as Mary and Jesus being Man and wife I would support that idea. It makes good sense when you look at it

There are millions of fictional books written that sound real. This is a typical lemming story my dear. In other words, if your friend told you it was the best thing for you to follow him/ her off of a cliff, would you?
You need to do some research. It's not real - it's a story.

The very reason people are so consumed by this drivel is that we are desparate for answers - somethig to believe in and have faith in.

It was a rip roarin, page turnin' not to be put down good storey - and that's it!
Heaven help us all!
Have a great day.

The story is fiction...but the dates, the places, and the religous groups are all real. I'm not saying its impossible that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. But the story about how Sophie was the decendent of Mary Magdalene and Jesus, and Professor Langdon, and Jaques Suaniere was all fiction.

I loved that book, and yes there are quite a bit of information in there that are real, but passed off as fiction for reader friendliness sake. Also you have to read Angels' and Demon's and all of Dan Browns books. I am hooked on his writing style
