I know that I have the puzzle right and every piece click in except for the Capitol building at the end of the mall. THis is REALLY starting to make me mad. How do I open the fireplace now?

After putting the pieces in their proper places, you go to the fireplace. All I had to do was click on the fireplace.

Wow. Those were informative answers.
Make sure that you place the capital building at the far east side of the puzzle, and then moving westward, you have the mall (the water section). The two pieces at the bottom should be the bay (Jefferson memorial). And the northmost piece is the White House. All the piece snug up against each other except for the white house. It didn't seem to fit tight like the rest. Put them all in that order and the fireplace will open. If it still doesn't, try exiting game board and go back into it.

If you need more help, go to Google maps, type in Washing ton DC, and look at a satellite photo of the Capitol Mall. It will help you put all the pieces in the right places.
