Is it true that whatever was born first in the father's line of siblings determines (or, at least, influences) the sex of the firstborn? My husband is the oldest in his family, so if this is true, our baby should be a boy.

I have a step Brother who was an only child like his daddy.
When he married he ended up with 6 girls and everyone in the family told him to stop trying for a boy.

never heard that one. The ONLY thing that makes the gender is the sperm. All females have female eggs. Men have genes for both male and female y/x genes. NO way that's true that father's line of siblings determines (or, at least, influences) the sex of the firstborn? and why would that only apply to the 1st born? thAT IS A COOKY OLD wifes tale at best stick to real science. BTW most ultersounds done between 18 20 weeks can tell gender "not always".

No. My father is the eldest of his siblings, and my I am the oldest of mine. I am a female, then my sister, then twin brothers. Think that's just a myth. Lots of people have ideas on how to work out if your baby will be a boy or a girl but none are scientifically proven. It's mainly just hearsay.

Buy neutral coloured baby clothes and accessories and wait for the surprise!!!

No. This has no effect.

For example, the oldest on my mother's side was her older sister. Her brother had four girls in a row and never had a boy so you might feel that that follows the pattern.

However, not only was the oldest on my mother's side a girl but, on my father's side, the first born was his older sister. In fact, my mother was the second of two girls in a row born first and my father had two older sisters also born first. Yet, my parents had five boys and only two girls with my older brother born first.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. My husband is from a long line of boys. There was one girl in many many generations and she was a second born. We had two girls which had never happened on his side of the family in as long as anyone can remember. So I think it's just the luck of the draw.

No that sounds liek yet another 'old wives tale'. I hadn't heard that one though. Neither is the whole, whatever you eat will determine the sex of the baby. According to all of the 'old wives tales" I should have 2 boys, I dont i have 2 girls.

Someone told me that you will have whatever your mother's firstborn was. In my case that would mean a girl. Although I don't have any.

No.
A man produces millions of sperm, 50.1% of which are male and 49.9% are female. The best swimmer wins.

I have heard that and I think it is probably more true than not but I don't think it is fact.
