There are many places on the body where yeast infections may occur. For sake of this discussion, I'll refer only to yeast infections that occur in the vaginal area or on the penis.
Yeast infections may or may not be transmitted by sex. They are most commonly seen in women, but men may also get them. Yeast infections are most often caused by an organism called Candida Albicans.
Some symptoms of a yeast infection may include:
A thick white discharge from your vagina or penis.
Itching in your vaginal area.
A red itchy rash in your vaginal area or on your penis.
There are many things that may increase your risk of getting a yeast infection, they are:
The use of birth control pills.
If you have diabetes.
Increase of your intake of milk products.
Increase of your intake of artificial sweeteners.
Having sex with someone who has a yeast infection.
The existence of a yeast infection in another area of your body.
Wearing tight clothing and non-cotton underwear.
How do you prevent yourself from getting a yeast infection?
Abstinence or practicing safe sex.
Wearing loose clothing and cotton underwear.
If you have several infections making sure that your blood sugar is under control and that you do not have diabetes.
What should you do if you think that you have a yeast infection?
Call your doctor right away. As with all infections earlier diagnosis and treatment is the best. Your doctor will probably want to see you, but may just suggest an initial treatment over the phone.
How do you treat a yeast infection?
Most commonly, doctors will prescribe a vaginal cream or a vaginal suppository if your a woman, and a topical cream if your a man. Most of these medications are over-the-counter now such as, Monistat and Gyne-lotrimin. These may be used from three to seven days depending on how bad your infection is and your symptoms. If your infection does not go away with these medications, your doctor may prescribe a different kind of cream or suppository such as Terazol. This is not over-the-counter. There are also some other special types of treatment that can be done by your doctor if you have a lot of these infections or they won't go away.

Partially caused by the pH of the infected area being too alkaline as compared to acid!! Yeast infection is a fungus that utlizes sugar (carbohydrates) so to control the fungus you stay away from sugars and carbohydrates. Go see a Doc for a cream to use. Best wishes of fast recovery!

Yeast is an organism that grows normally in the vagina, there are also bacteria that grow there, when we sometimes take antibiotics those bacteria die and the yeast having no competition over grows and you get what is called a yeast infection.

the biggest thing is poor hygeine, and i have found out the cheap toilet paper leaves residue behind and that can cause an infection, i would get a cleansin bottle and put some warm water in there and use it when you use the restroom or use those playtex wipes, they do really well
