back in 2004, if the lakers of kobe, shaq, malone and payton actually won the championship against the pistons. how would the nba look right now? would phil still coach the following year? who would win the 04-05year and the 05-06 year? would the team still be together? would kobe and shaq still have problems right now? would wade be as good as he is now?

That's a very good question(s).

I do believe that Phil would have returned the next year to coach the team.

If you remember the Spurs championship in 04-05, Robert Horry was a big factor in the playoffs. Remember that 3 point shot that sent game 6 of the NBA Finals to overtime? So I think the Pistons would've won the 04-05 championship.

I still think the Shaq trade would've happened. There was just too much bad blood between him and Kobe. So I still think the Heat would've won the 05-06 championship.

I also think that both Malone and Payton would have been on the team the following season.

Wade would be just as good as he is right now.

Well, Shaq would probably still be in LA and Miami would not have won a championship
Malone would have not retired and Payton would might not have gotten traded
Jackson would also come back to coach the team and the Lakers would challenge more for the championship than they do now
The team would still be together and Kobe and Shaq would have problems but would get over them if they were winning
Wade would not be as good as he is now because he has no shaq. And shaq was a huge part of Wade's and Miami's success

If Malone had been healthy, this scenario would have likely happened. The rest of the league would be trying to figure out a way to beat the Lakers. Phil would have coached the following year. The Lakers would have won in 04-05, but the Spurs would have won in 05-06. The team would have been pretty much the same with the exception of Gary Payton who would have went to another team that he felt better suited his style of play. Kobe and Shaq would still be bickering, but they still would be dominating the league. Wade would be good, but not as good as he is now b/c he wouldn't have faced as much pressure to win as he has been facing since the arrival of Shaq.

Everything would be completly different, I don't think wade would not be as good because he would not have had motivation to be so good, plus the refs would not give him a call every time he touched the ball. Malone still would have retired. The Shaq trade would have eventually happened but it probably would have been during the next season or after the next season. Payton probably would have retired also. It would look very different

It'd look pretty much the same...that team was real lucky to get by the Spurs that year...should have been a repeat for San Antonio. I think Shaq would have still left L.A. and Malone would still have retired with a ring (if they had won).

That team was put together for one season only, regardless of the outcome. I think everything would have still have happened the same.
