It is a good idea and a marketing miracle in my opinion, because design-wise it sucks. There are a lot better community sites out there, that though they are better designed, haven't had as much success. I.E. www.hi5.com or friendster.com

When I first heard of it, I was on Friendster.com The myspace revolution came in the form of an email message from Tom saying basically "Hi, I'm your friend add me". I said to myself "Who is this guy? I think he is just trying to steal all of the people from Friendster.com" I thought.. wow that's never going to work. Low and behold a year passed and suddenly everybody and their grandmother was on myspace. The key to it's success was appealing to a younger generation.. or so that's the word on the street. I had started to forget about friendster, and soon enough someone was asking me if I had a myspace. I got sucked in, got curious how everyone knew a secret way to add a background image and special videos to it. I was suddenly another zombie amongst the myspace reveloution. Now everyone I know is only a click away. Even ex girlfriends and people I'd never of thought would find me. You are now a click away from insanity, or the greatest web site ever. It's hard to say this early in the game, but the fact is, the internet has changed us all. Our parents, and our parents parents never were a click away from everyone they've ever known. It's a strange kind of picture phonebook, you can find someones name, their picture, all their interests and all of their friends. Is this a good thing? Yes and No, but no matter your answer, it will change what the future holds for everyone.

I thought it was fun! I've come into contact with so many friends that I have lost contact with and never would have found otherwise. It's also a lot of fun to search my high school and see what all of my classmates are doing now. I graduated in a class of about 250 and 100 of them have profiles on Myspace. So yeah, I thought it was fun when I first joined about 2 1/2 years ago and it's even more fun now that it has become more mainstream.

I think it's just like any other website where you meet or talk to people. There are no more perverts on there than there is on yahoo mail. I get emails all the time advertising porn and all kinds of crap. I like myspace to keep in touch with family and friends though. It's nice to be able to just post my pictures on one site then send out a bulletin letting people know they are there if they want to see them.

i was like eeew at the design and content of most of the pages.
I hated that it took like forever to load, due to overload of weird objects, sounds and videos.

But later on, i found wonderful people living in my area there, and thus i started to love it.

BUt what bugs me a lot, is that site is often down, under reconstruction, slow etc. WIth that kind of traffic, they should be able to have their system much more stable. It totally needs some technical management dept and planning there, lol ;)

I thought it was stupid but now I love it for finding old friends. I have found so many people I lost touch with after high school. I think it's a great way to keep in touch...affordable, convenient, fast, simple, can send messages anytime...it's great.
