I'm currently a freshmen in high school and the reason why girls in high school are cruel to one another is mostly, Jealousy and comparisons. Jealousy because the top girls want to be the prettiest and the most popular. However, when another girl transfers to the school the "top" girl is in jeapordy. Comparisons also play a huge part in the cruelty. Girls always compare one another on the streets and school, where ever they see another girl their age. It is human nature. As the teen girls grow up they realize that looks and clothes don't matter much any more. It's the job and standard you can stabily maintain.

I hope you use better english in your report "Why" instead of "y".

It doesn't stop with school girls...grown women can be brutal to one another too...from young girls on up a large part of the reason is competition...

Competition for attention (from peers, adults, boys/men)...it's been a 'man's world' so long that women still feel the need, from a young age, to fight and claw for everything they want...they'll back stab each other to get ahead, instead of being supportive...

Women generally don't have the brute strength that guy's do, so when they "fight" it tends to be with words and manipulation or vindictiveness, rather than fists. Much more ugly most of the time...

Well, when I was in high school there was a little bit of tension between some of the girls and I believe that it is because of competition over men, dominance, and popularity. Sometimes it is for other things. Girls, by nature, are just down right mean to each other.

It seems like in high school everyone is just trying to show off and be the most popular, that could be. But all the highschool girls I knew weren't really that mean at all. So I don't know

Often because they are so insecure with themselves that they have to make everyone feel as badly as they do. High school is a bunch of smoke and mirrors, glossy on the outside but scared to death on the inside that no one will find out that they are just as worried about the same things that you are.

PMS and jealousy, and competing for who can be the most sleaziest and loose for the guys. They also just want a friend to help them outdo other girls, and, make them a comrad or a trusted aly in all their games. Those movies about Mean Girls tells it like it really is.

Not all girls in high school are mean to each other. You can't make generalizations like that.
