My a/c evidently has a freeon leak. This is it's third time in the shop. First they just refilled the freeon to see how long it lasted to determine if I had a leak. Compressor works fine! Second time in they replaced a switch or a sensor, I am not sure my husband knows what they did, and also they tightened some bolts that were loose. Now my truck is sitting in the shop currently for the third time and no one seems to be able to find the problem, or the source of a problem. anyone have similar experiences, or know of a possible solution, or even what is causing the problem?

They need to put Dye in it...

Expeditions can leak from anywheres, but had one (on that body style) kick my butt and come to find that the a/c lines going to the back of the vehicle ofr the auxillary were leaking right above the crossmember (4th I think it is) that's right above the rear differential in the back.. the protecting foam was hiding the leak.. took a leak dye checker, and about 2 hours to find it (after having to shoot it up twice and not finding a leak over the period of a month)....

Best fun was the 4 hours it took me the change it and the people got charged to fix it :-)
(the line goes from the front by the battery to the rear of the truck!!! and only way to take it out is to cut it out..as per shop manual)

Now I don't know if this is the same problem your experiencing, but I had a expedition in a few months ago at the beginning of warm weather that kick my tail for a few weeks. It had a leak and once I charged it, would only last for a little over a week. So I put die check in it to visibly see the leak. but the only place I saw signs of the die was on the service ports. now no matter what you do your going to get the die on the service port just by hooking up to them. Took me the third time to realize, that it wasn't me that was causing the die to show up on them. I replaced the valves in both and leak stopped.
Now like I said before, not sure this is your problem, but it might help to pass it along to the people working on it. Took me a while to figure it out, they be going through the same thing.

they need to use either a electronic leak finder to find the leak or use a dye in the refrigerant charge to find the leak or a combination of both there really arent many parts on ac that leak so it will be either a leaking compressor, lines reciever drier evaporator condensor oriface tube or txv depending on vehicle or just an o ring
