Rasism I have noted is recipricol, both parties have played a part in it. Like with Asian, which I am, we tend to be much in ourselves and are overcritical with other people, not only races, but with different castes.
This behaviour had left a really bad stain on ourselves, and has left us open to the same abuse as we give.
With regards to the other cultures, and creeds, I feel that slavery and exploitation of a once powerful nation has instilled that sense of superiority within the brain.
However I feel the remedy is the total recalling of the history books in schools, and instead of looking at what happen at raj, and slavery times, have a look at what was there before. You will be suprised that Greek and Roman culture were not behind the dramatic futures that the Europeans had, but it was the Afro-Indian cultures that had the effect on the transition to modern life.
But I must add, I have never heard of racism against arabs, no not religiously, but their physical appearance. Why because they are rich now.
When the empires were squandered by the the Europeans, Arabs had nothing of interest to the Euopeans, so their land was practically left as is, so no colonisation took place. So there was no real direct contact, so the land reamins land full of mystical and new people. To add to that they are now rich in oil, so they are needed.
Now remember Black and Indians are no longer needed as their wealth was squandered and stolen by the Europeans, and so we are now poor, and on top of that we had the gall to ask for independance, from countries who took and never gave back. That was the biggest insult to the colonists. This i believe has instilled that racial hatred amoungst Europeans, and has and still is a major force in the shortcomings of countries os the African Nations and the subcontinent.

Racism is most prevalent and intense when people don't know each other. It's the old Bogey-man routine. But once people get to know individuals of other races, they find that the barriers drop. It's hard to 'hate' everybody in one ethnic group if you have a good friend who comes from that background.
More international and interracial contact would seem to be the solution. Things have improved a great deal in the past generations, and can improve even more for future generations.

sometimes there is an inverse racism.

If a white man insults or assaults a black one he is because the white man is racist. If a black one insults or assaults a white man it is always because the white man is racist (sees the Materazzi case)
It would have give one calmed and to stop of hypocritical beings.
Sometimes in soccer there is racism as in the normal life, but the true cases of racism are much less than those than which it is spoken.

that's a tough one. black players do have many problems particularly in the italian and spanish league. may be it's because of the history of the eurpoean states. may be racism could be surmounted in a better way in the usa since the white people were immigrants, too. european people do have more problems when they see many foreigners in their country.
in other countries the situation is better. in england you won't be insulted on the pitch when you are black. neither in the german bundesliga, as long as you don't go to some parts in the east..

Because some people are ignorant idiots who think they are better just because their skin is lighter. Can you believe that in some languages, the word for a black person is "slave"?
