An acquaintance has encouraged me to watch the movie again, because we were both thinking about the mothman and the history of the sightings and wondering if there were recent sightings. We both took some time and did some research on recent sightings and found a few in the past few years.

I was watching the movie and heard a line that said the mothman contacted/appeared to Richard Gere's character "you noticed them and they noticed that you noticed them."

Is this true for you?? Do you think people see/have supernatural/ cryptozoological (aliens/ufos, mothman, jersey devil) or spiritual (angels, ghosts) experiences because the entities notice that you noticed them??

Yes, that's true... atleast for me it's true. I tend to see a lot of ghosts and other unexplainable things of that nature, because I take notice to them, and they go away when I try to ignore them. Sometimes though, things will try toget noticed.

Mothman Prophecies, is a great movie and, if you want to know more about that stuff I reccoment reading, 'The Complete Guide to the Mysterious' by John A. Keel (Who wrote the Mothman Phorphecies, which is also a good book)

Not in my experience, but I suggest you read the book The Mothman Chronicles. In it, the author says that if you go outside with a flashlight around 9pm and flash it up to the sky about 3 times, go inside and turn your TV to a static station, the "snow" will blink the number of times you flashed the flashlight. Pretty freaky. I've never trie it. I don't want "them" knowing where I live.

Yes. I responded to a similar question yesterday. As a child, I was gifted. I could see good and bad in people and places and things. Evil spirits within animals KNEW I saw them, and they were afraid of me. I lost that gift over time, but I am still highly sensitive and empathic, not even close to how I used to be, though. I think I subconsciously tuned it out because it scared me too much. I absolutely beleive some people see these things because they are gifted. I still see energy from time to time, but it has to be strong enough to filter through. These presences are always good, always light. Just reassuring and uplifting, they leave you with an effervescent feeling within that is hard to explain. I think it is angels, or just good spirit beings.

If I ever saw an alien, jersey devil...etc, I would try my best to run fast as hell to get the *bleep* up out of there ASAP. I don't think these beings are positive in nature.

I think that is true. Why is a ghost/spirit/etc going to keep fooling around with someone that pays no attention to them. Especially if we are talking a ghost of a person here they would want attention just like they did when they were alive everyone likes to be noticed.

This has been a good line since the earliest of Gothic horror stories. Arthur Machen uses a very similar device in his wonderful novelette "The Great God Pan". Since much of fiction comes from supposed actual occurrences, then I suppose this could be true. If you notice, nothing supernatural happens to anyone, whether in life or in fiction, until and unless they notice something odd going on. Nice catch. I like it.

I believe it is. I remember seeing 2 different spirits in my mother's house. One was my great grandfather, I saw him when I was 4 and remember the experience to this day. The other was a woman in a red shirt and a denim looking skirt who I saw on and off up until I moved out.
There are things out there that are beyond explanation, so it would make sense that for people who have heightened sense to notice these entities and therefore have the entities notice them in return.
I remember when I saw my grandfather downstairs at my mom's house, he was standing in the door way to the rec room. I remember him just looking at me. I still shiver about it sometimes.

I think there are those sensitive enough to know something others don't.
