you have to understand about Russian wife she been though very very tough life. where men just want to have sex no life no mariage or anything. She really scared to learn to love again. If I were you I would learn to speak russian if I truly in love with my wife and that only way we be able to understand and being patient to learn from her from her life. so ty that.
P.S. don't listen to sausage finger saying about reagan. he didn't know how to repsect you when you having plm. and He really thinks he funny but he not. don't let it bother you and no matter what he do he think that he is married that he does have a wife. I don't think he is married his wife don't exist anything at all.... so picture of woman he holding that his sister. clam that his wife. haha funny.
So Really try to have russian translater or learn to speak and you will understand better. For me I am deaf and My wife don'tunderstand me and she learn sign lang to commucate with me and now she knows what I am feelings and stuff and she learned that sign is imporant to me in life. So I think you should try and see what you can do. If you really love yoru wife and wanted to understand her then this is your chance to show her that you love her and learn to speak her lang. that would made her day and your day too. hope your answer is wha tyou looking for? You never will!!! Where there is a language communication problem it gets worse with the years. I still cant understand myhusband after all these years and we are always talking at cross purposes leading to frustration and anger. I now talk in here or just think to myself instead of conversing with him as he never understands what I say lol Of course it might well be selective understanding. I bet if I told him I would give him £100 he would soon understand lollllllllllll

Russian wives are no different from any other type of wife and if you can't understand her then everything is as it should be. Women think differently from men and the sooner you accept this fact of live the better off you will be. Don't be a osiol.

If you mean verbally, learn her language. If you mean her personality and her way of life (traditions, etc.) do your homework. Research the Russian society and all that. You should be able to find such information on the internet but you could also go to the library and cind cultural books on the topic. Hope this helps.

Take part in russian cultural events. Really open your eyes wide and see how they have lived. Make sure she comes along with you, to explain. She will love the fact that your trying to understand her culture, with her.
