Why should the UN sanction Israel? For defending her borders?? Get real.
What mid eastern peace? That crazy little bastard in Iran is threatening to blow Israel into the sea. Hezbollah and Hamas want to destroy Israel. Sorry, but I can't see the point of punishing Israel for protecting their borders. You better start thinking about reigning in the jihadists if you want peace in the M.E.

I think Israel should be forced to live in peace with neighbors that have been completely disarmed. No aircraft, no tanks, no artillery, no rockets, no small arms, not even a book of matches. Israel's neighbors have demonstrated they are not able to handle such arms with any degree of responsibility.
I believe that would be a fitting and just punishment for Israel.
And for good measure, Israel should be given a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
That would REALLY put them in their place.

No sanctions for Israel. Their should be very severe sanctions for all countries who threaten Israel's existence. Israel has the right to defend herself against the nutty Islamists, she is doing us all a favor. We all know that and that is why the world isn't moving very fast to push for a cease fire.
