No, it shouldn't cause weight gain a hernia is a protrusion of a tissue, structure, or part of an organ through the muscular tissue or the membrane by which it is normally contained. Have you cut down on your activity because of pain from this condition? That would be the only thing that I can think of that would cause weight gain.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse, you have a Hiatus hernia am I correct. Are you sure your GP has diagnosed correctly. My GP told me I had a pulled muscle in my back for 8 years, I kept telling him it was gallstones, in the end IT WAS gallstones. I can't see that this would make you gain weight. What you have is swelling. I urge you to get a second opinion my love. I don't like the sound of this. You are welcome to contact me to discuss it. I was also told I had a hernia after my op. I had pain under my right rib, it was just like having gallstones all over again. I diagnosed myself with IBS and I have treated it. I feel fine now.
