Actually, just missing a few days can result in pregnancy. She should speak to her doctor when she's ready to start conceiving.

There are a lot of factors to consider here -- your friend is 27, but has been on the pill for 12 years. That means she was 15 when she went on the pill, which is very young! If she wants to try for children in a few years time, that means she's going to be in her thirties when she starts trying. That's getting into the territory where fertility decreases. And being on the pill for extended periods of time can make conception more difficult.
If she wants a family, what I think doesn't matter. This isn't the sort of thing you do by popular vote. At this point, what her ob/gyn thinks is critical. There are several options. One is going off the pill and using alternate birth control methods. But that is best decided by the lady and her doctor and the sooner she talks to him, the better.

There is no real answer for this, some people get pregnant as soon as they get off the pill, their next cycle, others it takes a while for all the hormones to get out of their system. She can go off for a couple months and see how long it takes for her body to start regular cycles and then go back on again and that should help give an idea. The pill especially the newer versions are low dose and many people do get pregnant right away, but other methods like Depo-provera can have longer effects on the body. She should talk to her doctor but she should probably get off the pill about 6 months before she wants to get pregnant.

I'm 27, and I had been on the pill 10 years. It took 9 months to get pregnant. But, I had read that you should not try until the pill was out of your system for a few months-which is wrong!
Some people get pregnant the month they go off.
I don't think she'd need to go off for a few years first.

The usual recommendation is to stop taking the Pill two or three months before you want to start trying to conceive. This allows the hormones contained in birth control pills to leave your system and your natural hormonal cycles to resume. During this time, your periods may be irregular, and you may want to use a barrier method of birth control, such as condoms or spermicide. Also, be sure to start taking a folic acid supplement, just in case you get pregnant a little earlier than you planned (folic acid helps prevent certain birth defects during the first few months of pregnancy).

Everyones body is different. But for the average woman it should take a few months to conceive..It takes that long because your body has to get used to the new changes. It just takes awhile for your body to regulate itself.. And I also know some girls who got pregnant immedialtey after tehy went off the pill but she was only on it the pill for 2 years.

You can usually get pregnant within one year of getting off the pill no matter how long you have been taking it so if she doesn't want to be pregnant for a few more years, she should continue to take the pill for now.

To my understanding it happens pretty quickly no matter how long you take the pills. She should be able to get pregnant within a couple of weeks at most after quitting the pills, but I'm not a doctor so I'm not completely sure about that.

If she is ready to start trying to have a baby in about two years then I think it will be okay to stay on the pill for one more year. My cousin just had a baby and his wife was on the pill for like nine years I think he said and she got off the pill like four months before she got pregnant.

The pill shouldn't prevent her from having a baby for a while. In fact, when you go off the pill you can ovulate almost right away. I guess she should give it a month before she wants to actively start trying, but I'd talk to her doctor to be absolutely sure.

You should come off the pill at least........6 months prior to trying to concieve........your body needs time to clear the pill out of your system.
Come off the pill........make sure your body is in good shape...possibly do a internal cleanse....eat sensibly...start taking folic acid supplements....and after 6 months start trying for a baby. It may take a while 6 - 12 months but making sure your body is in tip top shape is vital. Good luck.... L.Butler
