I was watching Tv one day when I saw a very interesting news report where they were discussing the 45M+ people in the U.S. earning under $18,000, yet working tirelessly to make ends meet. I was surprised to hear of people in positions such as paramedics and lab technicians earning less than $10 per hour and unable to provide properly for their families. I believe that it makes no sense how people who work in these type of fields get paid so low while you have people who play professional sports and get maid close to a million just to ride the bench.

I most certainly agree with you.

The people that play professional sports are very overpaid. They are out there having fun and getting paid millions of dollars in doing so.

I am also a firm believer in the Government getting paid the same amount. They should be made take a large cut in pay and have them try and live on $18,000.00 per year. There are a lot of people that live from pay check to pay check. The Government raises taxes so they can get a raise.

When a professional player is swapped, there are thousands, if not millions, of dollars at stake. I don't understand why....No one in any profession is worth all that money.....

Eliminate taxes on All necessary goods (food, clothing, medication, fuel, etc. Limit the taxes paid to luxury items only.

I honestly believe people could live on $18,000 a year if they were not taxed to death on things they need to survive. The rich get tax breaks on everything, why? They are not the ones struggling to make a living. It is the mid to lower income groups that need a break, not the rich.

I also agree that it is screwed up when "... people who work in these type of fields get paid so low while you have people who play professional sports and get maid close to a million just to ride the bench." It absolutely, "...makes no sense."

Firstly, interest on any debt should be made illegal for any bank to charge. (This includes credit card companies.) The Federal Reserve out to lose the right to print our money, and should not be a monopoly (wait.. a monopoly means there's a chance that someone else may begin). No more credit cards, no more tax breaks for the top 5%, free energy sources, (we have the technology for this... a few to choose from, even, such as Tesla's inventions) and no more bogus bills passed to raise minimum wage over the course of 3 years, while tacking on yet even more tax breaks on said bill, which was passed.
If we had some straight-shooters in office, by that I mean all offices, from State through Federal, many things would improve for everyone.

We know how to take care of all our people, house the homeless, feed all our citizens, use prevention as incentive for health rather than mask illness with synthetic drugs... but it's not done this way. In 2005 there was a bill passed to make it Harder for people to file bankruptcy! Guess who wanted this done? Insurance companies that hold hands with the medical profession, because they saw how many people couldn't afford to pay their medical bills anymore.

It doesn't have to be this way. The more people know, the less we're likely to put up with it. Soon making $30,000 annually won't be any different than pulling in $12,000 now, so we should all be working on a plan to see that this craziness ends now, or we'll be on TV as the entertainment.

They can get a second job at something else to build up their income if they were not LAZY. I know of people that have side jobs such as grass cutting, sewing, elder sitting, baby sitting, etc....and they use their extra monies for just that (extra stuff). You get out of life just what you put into it, there's many things a person can do to get a better paying job. We all have to crawl before we can walk.

Come to India! You would live like a King/Queen in this country. With that kind of money, you can hire a maid, cook, chauffeur and still have enough left to experience a better lifestyle than you are having presently in US. This is an honest truth.

That's what America gets for electing REPUBLICANS!!!!!!! Want the standard of living to change? Vote Democratic. When republicans are in control of congress and the white house, you best believe the economy will suck for the average man. Check your history books. See who was in office when the economy boomed and when it waned... then you'll know why we're in the state we're in right now.

Maybe those people should have waited for a better paying job.
The saying "a little money is better than no money" is not always true.
They knew what they were getting into when they agreed to work for that specific amount of pay, nobody put a gun to their heads and said "take this minimum wage job or else".

for starters our government sucks. the reason we make so little and pay out so much more is this simple little fact. Back in the day, on of the presidents messed with the economy. They (can't remember who) Froze the wages, while the standard of living kept going up. It sucks for us because they raked in a crap load of money, and we are still suffering for it to this day!

i saw an episode no oprah last week that was on the same subject. they should definitely raise minimum wage since it hasn't gone up in 10 years. i think it should be higher than $7.25 though, which is what they're thinking about raising it to.
