Every new mom I know loves a Boppy. It's a u-shaped pillow that she can put around her waist when sitting to rest the baby on to give her arms a break. Also helps with breast feeding!

Onsies, they are the undershirts with the snap crotch, that is all most babies wear til they are about two, also a big pack of white diapers with out the padded crotch. These are both used a lot but no one ever gets them. Of course if you want something cutsie, get a gift card at kids r us. There are plenty of things that parents need after the baby comes.

For Godmother? Maybe a gift that pertains to God and in the lines of a memory book, a mothers book to write memories and events that her baby does, special cross for baby's room on wall. I recieved a book to write in for my son called "In the heart of a mother". It is a diary of sorts from the mother to her child and questions pertaining to how God has been in the mother's life etc...and daily events taking place with child.
An afghan pertaining to God or Noahs Ark. All these are neutral for boy or girl. Sounds exciting!!

Buy a SwaddleMe from Kiddapatomous. I have a six week old, someone bought me one and I thought it was a silly gift at the time. I know better now, it's the only way my son will sleep. He sleeps 15 minutes without it, 7 hours with it!!!

It depends on how much you want to spend. If you want to spend alot, I would suggest a stroller that is sturdy. If you don't want to spend alot, I would suggest a sponge type device to give the baby a bath in the bath tub. I received one for my daughter and I loved it!! Both are for either sex. I know they carry the bath sponge at Wal-mart.

blankets are always much loved and needed, any sort of baby photo album or picture frames, or you could always find out if they have done a gift registry somewhere and go from there

Did she register anywhere, like Target, Walmart, or Babies R Us? If so go look to see what she has on her "wish List"
