Generally, the only time I've seen Looking for Work ads have been on freelance exchange sites, where artists, photographers, etc look for freelance gigs, and people go there to hire them. Craigslist also has a work wanted column, but I can't verify the success of that. For the rest of the employable workforce, it's all about gettin off your ax, scanning the classifieds, Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, etc (both free). An employer who's looking over a stack of resumes, isn't looking for more people who can't even get enough initiative to submit a resume. You gotta pull your weight, buddy.
