My mother, aunts, and grandma are always trying to tell what I should do with my life. They pretty much have my life planned out. If I do anything different than how they planned, they tell me I'm making a big mistake and going to regret it. They were allowed to live their lives and make mistakes, but I'm not allowed to do the same.

Ok, I have always listened to what they said and have done pretty much what they wanted. I have never had a chance to live my own life. Now that I'm starting to, they don't like it.

They have a lot more experience then you do. Like you said they were able to make mistakes, they just don't want you to make the same mistakes they have. But you are right, they have to learn to let you make your own decisions. So the next time they are planning you life away, you have to tell them (nicely).....Mom, for so many years you have been planning my life, at first I didn't think much of it, but now im almost an adult (or are) and I want to and I need to make my own decisions, and im hoping you will continue to support me through whatever I decide.

Chances are sweetie is that they have already made these mistakes and are just trying to guide you away from the same ones they made so try and listen unless you want to learn the hard way which in that case ask them to give you a little space so you can learn by your own mistakes but its not always advised this way as things often go very wrong.

That depends if you are 14 years old and want to go out with a boy until 2 a.m. or you are 19 years old and want to be a astronaut instead of a neurosurgeon...
Yes, sometimes we have to make our own mistakes but keep in mind it's good to learn from other people's mistakes because you can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Many times we just wish they would all mind their business! But the wise thing to do is to talk with your mother about how you really feel and ask her to tell your aunts and grandma to wait until you ask for their advice before they give it. another issue is age - how old are you? What kind of mistakes did your mother make? sometimes fear of the repercussions of past decisions create barriers in the mind. they want to help, but you need wisdom to know when that help turns into hindrance, why not ask Jesus to give you wisdom?

They are your family and they do have the right to tell you what they want and wish for you to do and you will regret making a mistake. My mother did the same thing but i did what i wanted to anyway and now i regret not listening to her.

They want you to benefit from their experience. When you're young, it's easy to forget that many people have faced what you're facing, and they don't want you to suffer like they did. Also, they've seen your potential, and even if you don't always agree with their analysis, they're trying to steer you to do what they think is best for you. Don't judge them too harshly--their parents did the same thing to them.

they do it because they care about you,,,,and if someone loved them in the past,,,they probably had someone telling them right from wrong too. so just get away from the computor long enough to go tell them thanks and that you love them too,,,and make the best choices in life that you can. good luck ,,,and a great life to you..

Because they care and know that you DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING
They have the experience of life and they want to help you avoid the un-necessary pain of STUPID DECISIONS
