Most of the wars in history was done by so called "Western societies". Yet we call ourselves civilized. Why? How civilized are we? In our country, people were enslaved, segregated: blacks; almost wiped out: Native Americans; excluded based on race: Chinese exclusion act. We have had so many wars and internal strife, as well as other nations. Are we civilized or barbaric?

The problem is that you are only familiar with western history. If I recall correctly, the Tartars were wiped off the face of the planet by the Mongols. The Japanese slaughtered millions of Chinese during WWII. I think you'll find the history of warfare equally barbaric in all parts of the globe.

Good point. The funny thing is the conquest of land made by civilised barbarians relied heavily on the excuse of "civilising " barbarians. It's a superiority complex brought about during the industrialitation era, delusional men who crave of exerting their worldview with their new found arriviste glory. Not knowing the beauty of these cultures, and how much is to gain from respectfully learning.
It's pure and brutal bullishness really.
Great question!
You deserve to be honoured with a medal for it!

Did you really just say most wars have been by "Western Societies"???

Way to be an ethnocentrist! Like the Qin dynasty ...No they haven't had any problems "over there"...

If I wasn't a Christian I would give you a thump upside the head.

Can you even name a proper barbarian tribe? I bet you think "Goths" just hang out at hot topic.

Shame on you.

I think this question requires a definition of the word civilization. I am sure pretty much every society thinks it is civilized, even if it uses a different term.
