It takes 3 months to become a phlebotomist. I was one for a little while cool job, but there isn't much room for growth Good Luck

it took me about 9 months. for the first 4 months i took a basic health class before the actual phleb./med lab assist. and then 5 months for the class that includes internship and you take a national exam that you have to pass it was a law that started last year but that is cool cause that means the pay is higher now. i work at a hospital now and i enjoy it cause you are never in the same place all day its great.

Most phlebotomy classes and certification takes than a few months to a year. You'll about technique, blood collection, infection control, blood borne pathogens, and universal precautions. Check out your local community colleges or career schools and see what's available. Good luck to you!

agrre with angelina... phlebotomy is mostly related to taking blood in the correct tube for the test required... and learnign the correct way to transport certian tests to the lab (i.e. INR/PTT should be in a blue top tube and be submitted on ice for the best results)

Our county vocational school has a phlebotomy program that takes a year. Check with your local votech and see what kind of program they have to offer.
