Tahoe, Monterey?

That depends on what you like to do. I'd recommend the village of Mendocino if you'd like to take in the romantic aura of a nice waterfront bed & breakfast, great restaurants & lots of little boutiques & antiques shops.

Or if y'all are the more outdoorsy type, you could always go camping up in the ancient redwoods of Humboldt, and share a glass of wine & kisses in the light of a glowing campfire. There's the Avenue of the Giants, but one of the more romantic spots is Patrick's Point (just north of Arcata). Some folks even refer to it as "Wedding Rock." There are lots of quaint romantic seafood restaurants if that's your thing.

If you're comfortable with nudity, then I'd recommend a weekend at Harbin Hot Springs in Lake County. It's very serene & relaxing, and you can always go sightseeing in nearby Calistoga.

These are just a few ideas off the top of my head.

Lake Tahoe is the best! There are lovely places to stay, cruises, skiing, restaurants and casinos a short distance away. It is a beautiful drive just getting there. Drive both sides of the lake. They are quite different from each other.

Carmel and Monterey, Old Sacramento, Mendicino,...all my old haunts and not far away so you won't spend the whole time driving. And. I am so jealous... because I miss those places.
Have fun!
