No one can answer this question. We are all different and unique, right down to our tastes in movies.

There are some critics who applauded the cinematic aspects of Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds, such as the one-man viewpoint, the post-911 imagry, the lack of real military involvement, etc. Meanwhile, there are critics out there who hated War of the Worlds for exactly the SAME reasons.

I can give you several reasons why I would say that I dislike CItizen Kane, the supposedly best film ever made, and I can also give several reasons why you should like Catwoman, supposedly one of the WORST films ever made.

Moral: You can't trust anyone's movie opinions but your own. Go out on a limb and surprise yourself. You may like something, you may hate it.

Try these--they are really good...THE BONE COLLECTOR, based on the debut Lincoln Rhyme mystery by Jeffrey Deaver.
Any of the Harry Potter books and films are wonderful. "Labyrinth," starring David Bowie is fun.
"War of the Worlds," with Tom Cruise is excellent--scared me silly. "The last Unicorn" is a wonderful animated film, based on the book by the same name.
If you like being scared spitless, try "Jurassic Park."
A miniseries that is excellent (I saw this on PBS) is "A Little Princess," based on the book by Frances Hodgeson Burnett. It willt tear your heart out.
If you want something factual, with a little bit of eerie in it(and some lovely music by Enya), try the miniseries, "The Celts."
Anotherfilm I really liked, starring Will Smith, is based on the old master, Isaac Asimov's "Robot" series--"I, Robot." It will make you think--when does a robot become as a living organism, and does it/he have rights?
There is a wonderful black and white film from France "La Belle et la Bete"(Beauty and the Beast) that is dreamlike in its images, and well worth your time.
There are many movies out there to see. All you have to do is go to your local video store and rent one of these, get some popcorn(natch), and get into the story!
