i am 16 yrs old and i got my drivers license december 1,2005. recently the law about curfew and driving people was changed. it used to be you only had to wait 6 months before you can drive your friends. also it was that for the first yr of your license your curfew was 12. now...... you have to wait a year to drive people (even if your 6 months were already up) and curfew is 11 not midnight. i have had my license 8 months and on the license card itself it says i only have to wait 6 months and curfew is 12, but the DMV sent out a letter that stated the above mentioned changes...
i wana know what would REALLY happen if i get pulled over with a friend in my car or if im out after curfew.

are there any california cops or CHP officers who can answer my qustion?????

From former Deputy Sheriff, now in San Diego:

As with most (if not all) traffic violations, it is up the Officer to decide what is the most appropriate action. For instance, if you're 5 hours past curfew, then you're likely to get cited. If it's only an hour or so, it's likely you'll get a warning and told to go home. If you're discovered to be a repeat offender, then you can bet on a citation. Multiple citations may end up with a supended license. My advice.......obey the law using your best judgement. Don't abuse the system....it's there for a reason.

the following is a quote from Penal Code 459, commercial housebreaking housebreaking is a "wobbler" which signifies that, searching on (a million) the circumstances of the case, and (2) your criminal historic past, it will be charged as a misdemeanor or a criminal. if you're convicted of housebreaking as a criminal, you face as a lot as six years contained in the California State penal complex.
