I have tried all phone numbers and addresses for a friend from the past and I can't get in touch with him. It's like he fell off the face of the earth.

how sad!! If it was somebody you knew from school days you can always try classmates.com, you really can find old friends on there, I found a friend I had known from HS who I had lost touch with for a number of years!! now I have found him and I couldn't be happier!!! your friend may or may not be listed there but it wont hurt to look :o)
