Please note: I am talking about the English and that when I mention the English I mean the inhabitants of England and not the whole of the political entity known as Great Britain (ie, England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland)

Yes I do think that the English are stereotyped that way-but then again so are the Irish. I'm not English but it bothers me when anyone is stereotyped.

Every culture is stereotyped, Good-God-I'm a Black Bahamian female, so you! we're top of the line when it comes to being stereotyped-why do they call it 'STEREOTYPE' anyways? But back to the topic, think its easier for people to categorised people by a minority.......If they encounter 5 persons out of 5,000 that are a certain way-then that entire race of people is labelled according to the 5.

Lets face it we all do that-if you visit a place and have a bad experience, won't you tell all your friends never to visit that because it was a bad place to visit?

Well its the same thing with people, you meet a few bad apples and everyone is judge as being bad.

It does annoy me but then there have been bad examples set by people many people who should know better. The problem is that many working class areas of the country have had real social problems that have led to this situation. Then again English men have for many hundreds of years had a habit of being rather aggressive. That is probably why our soldiers did well in the past. Now this natural aggression has no let out other than in football and Friday nights down the pub

Small minority my erchie - it's endemic.
The English fans were at their usual worst in Germany and everyone else was happy when the team went out.
What a bunch of morons the English fans are.
Not English people per se, just the oafs who follow the team as an excuse to abuse others.
At the TandT game a lot of them hardly watched the game, electing to stand with their backs to the pitch in order to hurl racist abuse at the TandT fans.
Every other country's teams bring supporters who arrive in party mode but for England it's war.
English fans are mostly scum but yes, a minority are decent people.

I think the fire within this particular smoke is fuelled by a vocal yet inarticulate underclass and a culture of binge drinking within it. Given that, unfortunately I think work would need to be done to shake the stereotype. And I say this as an immigrant living in the UK by choice, so I'm not having a go at the country in any way.

i'm from Brazil. The stereotypes are too many... all and distinctive thinks we've bare human beings and monkeys strolling contained in the streets... that we play football and dance samba each of the time... yet per chance that's our fault, for no longer showing the actual Brazil to the international. that is the images that we let others have from us. yet we are a lot more effective than this, believe me. in case you come back the following per chance you'd be shocked. there's a huge type of variatons of cultures, reckoning on the area you're. it truly is a desirable usa, with a large type of complications (yet what usa is freed from complications, isn't?), a cheerful human beings, and a large type of reliable issues too.

As an individual of partial British ancestry, it does annoy me that my brethrens have this stereotype of the aforementioned. The British does not deserve this stereotype and the international press should just back off.

Yes. It makes me want to hit someone!!! Need a drink now!!

Seriously though, the way some of us act abroad, who can blame them? But I'm guessing this stereotype is not taken literately, just as we don't all assume every French man is going to steal our girls, or stink of Garlic!
