I believe that all the ones that answered in bad terms are both fat and lazy.

Many health professionals today feel that fat--as in obesity--is a genetic condition and/or a faulty "thermostat" for satiety(feeling you have had enough to eat) that may have to do with serotonin or other neuro-transmitters or neurological processes. It makes sense that those who must (for whatever reason) eat excessively often don't feel good and ultimately become more and more sedentary. So this is a snow-balling situation. And, if there are physiological causes, perhaps these, in turn, cause people to feel less like moving around. Also, many "fat" people feel ashamed of being seen doing anything athletic or exercisng in the gym. I did know a large woman who taught an aerobecize class. She said she came from a heavily-built family, knew she'd never be a slim Jim, had been through a great deal of scoffing, but nonetheless was going to have the healthiest body possible and turn as much fat into muscle as she could. Over the course of the time I took her class, she did tone up greatly, lost some weight, and though she would never be petite and there would still be people scoffing, she had great energy, was in great shape-- what a good role-model for other large people! I think the stereotype of fat and lazy stands in the way of people being able to overcome their propensity to overeat and gain weight through participating in exercise and sports.

Technically you are one or the other, fat or lazy. You never hear anyone refer to thin people as lazy, it is an asumption for heavy people. Not all of them are lazy, many are depressed and need people to stop treating them like lepers and laughing at them. There are many people that won't have anything to do with them.
Terms like this is my fat friend is cruel, or you know that fat kid.

English lesson:
"Referring to people who are fat and lazy; are they fat because they are lazy, or lazy because they are fat?"
The two terms (fat and lazy) aren't synonymous. I've known many slender or average people who were as lazy as the day is long...and I've know fat and obese people who were active and on the go all the time.
So...to answer your question, either of those things are possible (fat because they are lazy...lazy because they are fat) but they don't encompass all (or maybe even most) lazy people or fat people.

Wow, your question does not live up to the "chicken or egg" original.
I think you are making a false assumption. There are many reasons for being overweight. One can be lack of education, similar to your lack of education in grammar and writing, but that doesn't mean they are stupid (okay, well, you might be... but that's another story) just ignorant about good eating habits and exercise. Others are overweight due to genetics or health conditions.

Honestly, please ask ebtter questions next time. Yes, there are some people who are of larger size and who happen to be lazy as well. There's no sure way to prove it's because they're lazy that they're fat or vice versa. Genetics also play a role in determining a person's hereditary traits. And please don't be so blunt about larger sized people because they're people who can be sensitive as well to such epitephs.

I think they become heavy first, and due to the extra pounds it becomes more difficult to exercise, especially since they were obviously not doing so in the first place.
