I have a software called the GIMP and someone who is kinda experienced w/artistic stuff told me I can clone it to make it straight-on. see I'm making like a virtual outfit and they said cloning will also cover up the arms cuz my picture shows the arms. but when I tried to use the clone feature nothing happened and I clicked all over the picture. it just had that cancel symbol. anyway if I'm using the wrong software plz tell me what else I can use that is free or at least free trial.

go to www.adobe.com and get photoshop. You can get the trial version there. Its the best program for that stuff.

The cancel symbol probably means that that tool is not available for that picture's format. In Photoshop, for example, the clone tool is not available for images in gif. format, because the tool requires that all the CMYK colors are available.

Your software should have a "save as" function available under your file menu. In the "save as" window, change the format to jpeg or bmp. To play is safe, I'd also change the name of the image so that you can keep the origianl intact. Click "save" and try your clone tool again.

Because you are using a trial version, it may not let you save your work. In that case, you could be screwed.

Try to look for a place to change the image's "mode" (4 color, 3 color, process color, etc.) That may also unlock the clone tool.
