I keep the gas in the 2 gallon size for my lawn mower and I don't know where to keep it so I don't blow up the house.

I don't have a shed, and I don't want to freeze my gasoline, unless you are recommending putting anti-freeze in it?

I store my gasoline outside away from the house. I use the plastic type of gasoline cans, so corrosion is not a problem. I put tape over the spout to keep water out of the gasoline, and I don't store any gas in the winter.

I would store the gas under my deck with the vent and the fill spout tightly closed. I tore down my detached garage and had the same issue. I keep it outside, under the roof cover to my basement stairs and have had no condensation problems. Just make sure the vent plug is closed.

As long as the gas can has a vent hole you should be able to store it in the basement away from the furnance unit.

Storing it outside you may get water or moisture in the can.

They make special gas cans that are vapor proof. they are designed to be stored inside. I am not sure where to find them but I know they exist. Just wanted you to know.
