Have they forgiven you?

The things that I did to my friends and loved ones that hurt them are to numerous to mention. And the worse thing, well honestly I was probably in a black out so wouldn't remeber anyway. But like all alcoholics I hurt the ones who did truly love me, as they were always there for me and never gave up on me. I have many years of sobriety under my belt now and I feel confident that all my past acts have been forgiven by all. We actually are able to laugh now at some of not only the foolish but also hurtful things I did when drinking. They are proud of me and my accomplishments and have been present at all my AA medalion celebrations.

I'm personally not an alcoholic but a very close family member is. He has been going down the wrong road with alcohol for a few years now. He has 2 impaired charges and he is only 26 years old. As a close family member to him I have a lot of hurt and disgust towards him. I don't understand why he does the things he does. And I think he needs to get some help. I don't like to have my children around him if he's been drinking. And I can't even stand to be around him because he's so unattractive when he's drunk and he's rude. I don't think that I'll ever forgive him for the stupid things that he has done because of his drinking. Take Care !!

The worst thing is that you are unknowingly killing yourself and they have to stand back and just watch it happen and not be able to do anything to be able to really stop you, since you have to do that for yourself.

Whether or not if someone forgives you is really not up to you and if someone chooses not to forgive you then there is nothing you can really do about it. The most important thing to remember is that when you apologize you are doing it actually for you and the only person you have to be able to forgive is yourself, all the rest of it will fall into place on it's own.

Most active alcoholics just aren't there for their family. Most wish it were different, but cannot overcome their craving for alcohol.

Once you join the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous you never have to feel that way again and most family members will forgive you.

Not me ....but a good friend has ruined all his friends and family by betraying them in one way or another because of alcohol...either by borrowing money...to wrecking their car...to just being undependable...and 95% haven't forgiven him...he seems to not have a bottom to hit.

My father isn't an alcoholic, but he pulled a stunt on our family when him and my mom divorced. He sat on the porch and drank whiskey like there was no tomorrow and he was home alone. We found him hours later unconcious and rushed him in. The hospital pumped his stomach. It's never been the same!

My dad is an alcoholic, and he was never there for me and beat my mom and grandma, and NO I have never forgave him. I have 3 kids now, and I will never let him meet them cause I am afraid he will hurt them. My mom married my step dad when I was 14 or so, and he is who I consider my dad to be.

the worst that my EX did ( while we were together) was constantly use all our rent money for drinking, got us evicted, came home late, woke the baby, missed the delivery, had to declare bankruptcy.

I couldn't handle it.... but... if you stop you might have a chance. My ex didn't try to stop
